Volunteers' Appreciation Dinner
The delicious food prepared by our Burmese caterers was a great success at our recent Volunteers’ Appreciation Dinner, held on 5 December, International Volunteers Day. Four cooks prepared the food and a team of delightful young people helped set up the venue and later served the dinner to our 50 guests. This was a training event for the community members who are interested to develop a micro-enterprise providing Burmese food for private functions. The event was generously supported by Bluescope Steel Illawarra Donations Committee.

Burmese Boys' Weekend
Seven 'lads' from the Burmese community enjoyed a two night bush adventure south of Ulladulla in March 2010. The cabin and welcome was provided by our host, Kieran Tapsell. SCARF funded the mini bus and Ted Booth was driver and mentor for the weekend.

We climbed Pigeon House Mountain, swam in the dam, talked with an Aboriginal land holder and artist, made bird boxes, saw kangaroos, played scrabble, did some clay painting and ate the best food. As Soe reflected, "It was the best weekend I have ever had!"
