Art for Refugees is an annual charity art exhibition and major fundraising event for SCARF (Strategic Community Assistance to Refugee Families) – a volunteer-based community organisation supporting refugees starting a new life in the Illawarra.
This unique event sees artists donate their artworks for public purchase with 100% of sale proceeds directed to supporting the work of SCARF.
Nationally acclaimed artists such as Archibald Prize short-listed Paul Ryan, Auguste Blackman and Sallie Moffatt are among the hundreds of artists who have supported art4refugees in the past.
In 2016 the exhibition is expanding to encompass a month long celebration with artworks being displayed in multiple locations around Wollongong throughout October. Concurrently, Art for Refugees Junior, a series of creative workshops for students to express and learn about Refugee and Asylum Seeker experiences will be run.
