Computers for the Community
One of SCARF's valued services is the provision of a computer and internet access to new arrivals. For many, this is the most efficient way of communication with those 'back home' and in refugee camps. Phone call costs are prohibitive and in many cases impossible (not connected). SCARF accept donations of computers and peripherals (screens, keyboards, speakers etc). Volunteers rehabilitate the hardware and install appropriate (open source) software. The kits are then provided to refugee families at no cost, including the first three months of dial-up internet access. Training is also provided. Click here for the SCARF Training Specs.
