Home Tutoring and Homework Help
Our volunteers provide after-school homework and tutoring assistance to High School students at the following times:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm-6pm
Secondary and Tertiary Students’ Homework Sessions
(Tom Thumb Room at Wollongong Library, Burelli Street, Wollongong)
Our Home Tutoring volunteers are matched up with a family to provide in-home tutoring for primary school students. Through their regular visits, home tutors also play an important role in mentoring adults in the family, too. Volunteers help them develop the life skills they need to adjust to life in the Illawarra and work on building their English literacy.
English for Adults
English Literacy and Conversation classes are held regularly at SCARF’s centre. Classes are structured to meet the needs of English learners from Level 1-4 and TAFE ESOL students.
SCARF also offers classes on demand addressing important issues for our community. Past sessions have included citizenship classes and workshops on legal rights and family issues.
If your group or organisation has information to share that may be relevant to SCARF and our refugee community, please contact us to share your ideas.
