In the spirit of actively nurturing community connections and an atmosphere of welcome for all, we host a number of regular social events.
We’re also aware what whilst many people would love to volunteer for SCARF – they just don’t have the time. Our social events are the perfect opportunity to be involved with SCARF, without the regular commitment.
Make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook page for event updates.
Coffee and Conversation weekly events:
Every week, SCARF hosts an informal group meet-up where people from refugee and non-refugee background can meet, chat and practice english. We provide coffee, tea, and light snacks. You don’t have to commit to coming weekly, just drop in whenever you’re free.
When: Every Friday, 10 -11.30am. Where: Flourish Australia – 5 Station Street Wollongong (new venue).
Social Hangout Nights:
Recently SCARF has launched bi-monthly Social Hangout Nights at Sifters. These free events are an opportunity for the SCARF and broader community to listen to great live music, taste multicultural cuisine, meet new friends and hang out with old ones.
Stay tuned for Social Hangout Nights in 2017!
SCARF Trivia Nights:
Our Trivia nights at Little Prince are a whole lot of fun (and raise money for SCARF!). For just $15, you’ll get yourself entry, a free drink, games and trivia materials, and a night of brain-racking goodness!
Next Trivia Night: 28th February 2017. Where: The Little Prince (Bar), Globe Lane, Wollongong
Tickets: $15 – visit www.trybooking.com/NMLP
In response to the needs of recently arrived women from refugee background, we held our first women-only event in 2016 – our Henna and Bellydancing Night! We’re looking forward to holding more in 2017.
Stay tuned for women-only nights in 2017!
