English Coffee and Conversation

Every week, SCARF hosts an informal group meet-up where people from refugee and non-refugee background can meet, chat and practice casual english. We provide coffee, tea, and light snacks. Unless you’re a Coffee and Conversation Volunteer, you don’t have to commit to coming weekly, just drop in whenever you’re free!

When: Every Friday, 10am-11.30am

SCARF Trivia

Our Trivia nights at Little Prince are a whole lot of fun (and raise money for SCARF!). For just $15, you’ll get yourself entry, a free drink, games and trivia materials, and a night of brain-racking goodness!

When: The last Tuesday of every month, 6pm-9pm (Next Trivia Night: 28th February 2017.)

Youth Camp

Every year, SCARF give young people from refugee background an opportunity to participate in Summer Camps in order to develop skills, build confidence, foster friendships and facilitate social inclusion. In 2017, SCARF has organised two camps with The Outdoor Education Group, one for 16-18 year olds, and another for 16-24 year olds (boys and girls attend separate camps).

When: 17th-19th February 2017

Camp Wombaroo (for women) and at Camp Biloela (for men).

Women-Only Night: A Night From The East

In response to the needs of recently arrived women from refugee background, we held our first women-only event in 2016 – our Henna and Bellydancing Night. The event was a wonderful evening of friendship, dance and cultural exchange. Now we’re holding more in 2017! All women (from both refugee and non-refugee background) are welcome.

When: Saturday 18th February, 4.30 – 7.30pm

Woolies BBQ (SCARF Fundraiser)

SCARF’s dedicated Woolies BBQ put on a classic sausage sizzle at Fairy Meadow Woolies to fundraise much needed money for SCARF. Pop-in for a sausage sandwich for a great cause!
